How It Works

Giving young screen composers a chance

However, we think there is nothing better than a competition to motivate aspiring composers to create. If you only have a piano and your phone to record it you stand the same chances as someone with thousand dollars worth of orchestra libraries and experience in orchestrating who can create an amazing sounding orchestra. We look only at the creative ideas you use to tell the story of this film with your music. We are just a team of composers ourself and wanted to create something we would have loved to participate in. This contest is not meant to make us a big profit but to give composers an opportunity, which is why we put most of the registration fees in the prizepool and can therefore offer bigger cash prizes than similar competitions. The 3 prize winners and one popularity prize winner will be announced and recieve their well-deserved prizes. The Indie Film Music Contest is open world wide to all ages and nationalities. You will receive a short film with a length of about 2 minutes.

Composers may register to participate in teams of no more than 2. If participating as a team, both composers must be eligible to compete under the guidelines below. Composers may register for and compete in more than one category, but a separate registration form and fee must be submitted for each category.
